Chemonics ,Chief of party Jobs in Tanzania

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the five-year, $60 to $70 million USAID Tusome Pamoja ("Let's Read Together" in Kiswa
hili) Program in Tanzania. The program aims to improve lifelong learning skills, defined as mastery of early grade reading, writing, and arithmetic. It will support five regions of Tanzania in improving quality of basic skills instruction at the early primary level, strengthening Ministry of Education and Vocational Training skills delivery systems, and increasing community and parental engagement in early primary education. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall technical and administrative leadership and expertise for the Tusome Pamoja and serves as the primary liaison with USAID/Tanzania on management and technical matters
  • Provide overall management and implementation of the program, ensuring it meets stated goals and reporting requirements
  • Take a leadership role in coordination among USAID and key stakeholders, especially DFID, and other implementing partners
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education, business, program/project management, or a related field from an accredited university required; a focus on curriculum, early childhood development, or early grade reading preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant management, supervisory, and technical experience with programs of a similar scope and scale to Tusome Pamoja required, including at least 10 years in a management/leadership position
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in development in Sub-Saharan Africa required, preferably in East or Southern Africa, with ample experience in project design, policy dialogue, strategic planning and implementation, education reform, and national-level quality improvement
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of capacity development and professional development preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex, politically charged environments, work across different cultures, and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required (IELTS level 7 or above, or TOEFL 94 or above); proficiency in Kiswahili is preferred but not required
