Chemonics seeks a chief of party for an anticipated USAID-funded integrated water resources management (IWRM) project in Tanzania. This project aims to promote sustainable water and land resource use in the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania by strengthening local governance, institutional capacity, and water resources management policy. The project will accelerate sustainable improvement in watershed management by addressing issues of water supply; irrigation and use of water for agriculture; climate change adaptation and resilience; and water, sanitati
on, and hygiene (WASH) practices. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction
  • Serve as the project's key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners
  • Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
  • Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
  • Collaboratively c reate and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
  • Master ' s degree in international development, water/sanitation engineering, natural resource manage ment, public health, business administration, economics, or other related field required
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working in senior leadership positions for IWRM or WASH projects in developing countries, preferably in Tanzania or East Africa
  • Experience working on donor-funded international development programs and strong management and technical expertise; work on USAID projects preferred
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with senior government officials, donor organizations, and other key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Swahili a plus
