Accounting for International Development ,Mentor Accountant (International Water and Sanitation Charity)Jobs in Tanzania

Our partner is an established international charity working to provide poor communities with access to safe drinking water and sanitation, empowering and informing people about proper hygiene and sanitation practices, and using their research and experience to influ
ence policy.
They are seeking a volunteer to offer short-term cover in their Tanzanian office, as it undergoes restructuring. The office has not had a continuous Head of the Finance Directorate for the past three years, and with Financial Accountant leaving the organisation and the Management Accountant going on maternity leave, there is a huge resource gap that they are hoping to fill with the support of a volunteer.
You will be working under the Acting Director of Finance in:
• Overseeing routine day-to-day and month-end accounting
• Assisting in the preparation of the statutory accounts and working alongside the Country Director and UK office to ensure these are prepared on time and to the expected standard
• Providing ad hoc financial information as requested and communicating financial information to non-finance staff, senior management and other stakeholder
• Supporting the fundraising and grant management teams in budget development for concept notes and grants, and writing donor reports
They are seeking a candidate comfortable with handling basic accounting as well as financial strategy, and are keen on the candidate being IT/systems savvy. There will be a week-long induction in the UK, followed by a 2-3 month posting in Tanzania from April onwards.
